More Fresh Snow and Winter Tracks

Hi-

Yesterday we got more fresh snow. At the end of the day we got about 3 1/2 inches. This morning the crew was out grooming the ski trails.

Winter Tracks is in full swing on the Gunflint Trail. Yesterday we had more people carving the snow blocks in front of the lodge. We now have two wonderful dancing bears, stone hedge, a huge frog, and a cube balancing on its corner.

Now we are getting ready for the Snow Boot Ball tonight. Our Chef is out preparing the food for the awards banquet tonight. He is smoking ribs, chicken, and a 75# steamship of buffalo. He is also cooking potatoes, green beans, and chocolate fudge brownies for dessert.

Tonight at the Snow Boot Ball we will also be having a contra dance and a cash bar. Everyone should have a great time at the event.

Hi there! It's so wonderful to read your blog as we have fond memories of our honeymoon there (March 2002)!! We are contemplating coming back to revisit on our 4 year anniversary (March 9th) but will have to check if we can get time off first from our respective jobs plus see if Nannie & Granddad can babysit for a 3 day long week-end! I am going to keep reading your blog from now on. Thank you so much for making our stay memorable! We loved the cabin and were amazed by the cordon bleu style cuisine!! Blown away! Literally.

Thanks for the kind words. We are working on opening up a bistro inside of the lodge this summer. Currently we are planning on calling it the Red Paddle Bistro. We are going to be serving Northwoods Gourmet Soup, Salads, Sandwhiches and Desserts. We are really excited about the new food. Hopefully we will meet your expectations. We can't wait to see you back at Gunflint.
